I felt like Columbus must have felt when he “discovered” the “New World.”
The new world I enjoyed last weekend was Holmes Bend Marina Resort on Green River Lake, an 8,500-acre body of clear green, fresh smelling water located in south central Kentucky.
Holmes Bend has been in business for only a little more than a quarter of a century. For years, I had seen the signs advertising Green River Lake as I traveled the Bluegrass Parkway out of Lexington on my way to Kentucky Lake, or, as I traveled west on Ky. 90 out of Somerset on my way to fish Lake Cumberland or Dale Hollow Lake – two lakes located not far south of Green River Lake. Family Cottage Rentals
625 sq. ft. rustic style cabins with deluxe furnishings are nestled back into the edge of the woods overlooking Green River Lake and Holmes Bend Marina Resort. The large vaulted porch, with its old fashioned porch swing and rocking chair, is a wonderful place to enjoy the view.
Inside, 2 bedrooms and a queen size sleeper accommodate 4 to 6 comfortably (additional guests are $20 per person). Additional features include satellite, flat screen t.v., vcr, hardwood floors, central heat/air and a gas grill.
Cabins are completely furnished including bed linens, towels and kitchen/dining utensils.
Each is handicapped accessible.
